Iggy Pop | "Lust for Life" (1977)

It's embarrassing to admit that before this album came up on my 1001 Albums playlist, all I knew about Iggy Pop was that he is a singer and that in every picture I saw, he seemed to be without his shirt. After listening to "Lust for Life", I realize that I already knew and liked some of his music. Listening to "Lust for Life" made me want to hear more. His newest release "Post Pop Depression" is good as well. I want to hear more.

Punk (or even more accurately pre-Punk) meets David Bowie.

Dinosaur Jr. | "You're Living All Over Me" (1987)

This album was a released during a time in my life when I was separated from music due to some other preoccupations: Army Basic Training and going to an intensive language school. I would have liked it then. I like it now. The heavy riffs and driving beat are the perfect canvas for the pained lyrics.

Super Bowl Sunday? Forget that, I was at Super Saturday

Run DMC opened.

Then Snoop Dogg came out and DJ'd a set. He did a little rapping, but he mostly just kept asking "Where da ladies at?"

Finally, the Red Hot Chili Peppers lit up the stage.

A night like this very often would kill me, but it was cool rockin' for an evening.

The Sensational Alex Harvey Band | "Framed" (1973)

Interesting. The last album I listened to was ZZ Top's Tres Hombres. Both albums were produced at around the same time but ZZ Top with Texas roots, Alex Harvey in the UK. The sound and themes could almost be interchangeable. I could easily see most of Harvey's songs belonging to ZZ Top and vice versa. Excellent blues rock. It's when the Sensational Alex Harvey Band moves on to glam or "heavier" rock  that they start to be less enjoyable.
